The Mother City is ready to welcome an exciting new addition to the city’s premier hotel offering.
The Cape Town EDITION, opening late October 2026, is positioned as the brand’s African debut, with 142 rooms and 27 suites, a strong design and local-craft narrative, multiple dining and social spaces, wellness, and a location at the V&A Waterfront.
We chatted with their team to discover more about this collaboration between Marriott International and Kerzner International:
- The Cape Town EDITION marks EDITION Hotels’ debut in Africa. What was it about Cape Town that made this the right city, and the right moment, for the brand to arrive?
- The hotel has been designed to feel distinctly connected to Cape Town, from the sculptural Drum and hand-laid brickwork to the use of local craft and materials. What were the key inspirations behind the design, and how did you translate the spirit of the city into the hotel?
- EDITION is known for creating hotels that feel like part of the social fabric of their destination rather than simply places to stay. What do you hope The Cape Town EDITION will bring to the city’s hospitality and social scene?
- With 142 rooms and 27 suites, the hotel has been conceived around a strong sense of space, texture and views. What can guests expect from the rooms and suites, and are there any details you think will particularly surprise or delight them?
- Food and beverage is clearly central to the experience, from SHALE and the Lobby Bar to the rooftop Pool Terrace, Punch Room and Vantage Bar & Lounge. What was the thinking behind creating such a diverse collection of spaces, and what role do you see them playing beyond the hotel guest experience?
- The rooftop pool and bar have some extraordinary views across the city, ocean and Table Mountain. How have you approached the relationship between the hotel and Cape Town’s natural setting?
- The EDITION Spa introduces a more restorative dimension to the property, with a focus on vitality, resilience and mindful recovery. How have you interpreted wellness for the Cape Town guest, and what makes the spa experience particularly local or distinctive?
- For a luxury traveller who may already know Cape Town well, what will The Cape Town EDITION encourage them to discover differently? Are there particular local experiences, people or places that you are excited to connect guests with?
- Opening a new hotel is ultimately about more than beautiful spaces—it is about creating a service culture from day one. What kind of guest experience and personality are you hoping to establish through the team at The Cape Town EDITION?
- When the doors officially open, what do you hope guests will say about The Cape Town EDITION that they wouldn’t say about any other hotel in Cape Town?
